Bible Quote Mar 31st Isaiah 53:3-4

“He was despised and rejected by mankind, a man of suffering, and familiar with pain. Like one from whom people hide their faces he was despised, and we held him in low esteem. Surely he took up our pain and bore our suffering, yet we considered him punished by God, stricken by him, and afflicted.” -Isaiah 53:3-4
===
Jewish peoples have a different view of this passage than Christians. This passage was written in exile and may be about the nation of Israel suffering and soon to be redeemed. That happened. Christians view it as a prophecy of Jesus. Isaiah was written by Isaiah Ben Amoz, but there is disputation of what he wrote and when. Much was lost by Jews in exile.

Bible Quote Mar 30th 2 Corinthians 5:21

“God made him who had no sin to be sin for us, so that in him we might become the righteousness of God.” - 2 Corinthians 5:21
===
The second epistle to Corinthians is probably the fourth letter Paul had sent. He and Timothy had written this letter so as to let Corinthians know he would be visiting them, before going to Rome. Paul would later be martyred in Rome. Here, Paul is advising Corinthians to be reconciled to God. Because Jesus was a sacrifice, without blemish, God can abide our sinful presence and we may act righteously in His name.

Bible Quote Mar 29th 1 Timothy 2:5-6

“For there is one God and one mediator between God and mankind, the man Christ Jesus, who gave himself as a ransom for all people. This has now been witnessed to at the proper time.” - 1 Timothy 2:5-6
===
Paul wrote Timothy to guide him as a leader in the church. Some say Paul has not written this because he uses words he does not use elsewhere, suggesting a later church than Paul had known in his lifetime. This particular chapter has Paul writing in prayer for all men. Paul declares here that Jesus was the messiah God had sent, as had been prophesied.

Bible Quote Mar 28th Psalm 62:7

“My salvation and my honor depend on God; he is my mighty rock, my refuge.” - Psalm 62:7
===
David had been a shepherd, a warrior, a singer and dancer, a rebel leader and a king. Here, David is king, but his people are not everything God is to him. David's people bicker and put their faith in things which crumble. But God has been steadfast in his support for David, whom David could lean on.

Bible Quote Mar 27th Philippians 1:29

“For it has been granted to you on behalf of Christ not only to believe in him, but also to suffer for him,” - Philippians 1:29
===
Paul's letter to Philippians followed a time he had spent there in the late 40's. It is possible Paul is writing this letter from Rome prior to his death. The city of Philippi had been renamed after King Philip, the father of Alexander the Great. The city is in the North East of Greece and possibly had a population of 2000 at the time.

This point of the epistle, Paul gives practical instructions on sanctification with instructions to live boldly as citizens of heaven.

Bible Quote Mar 26th 1 John 1:9

“If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness.” - 1 John 1:9
===
John had been close to Jesus. He had thought, for a long time, that Jesus had promised John would never suffer mortal death. But God keeps all of his promises. In some ways, John died at least twice. Killed by Romans who wanted to silence his cult, John survived and died later, possibly of old age. He wrote this letter in Ephesus probably around the year 98.

John and Peter, of all the disciples had a special relationship with Jesus. Jesus even allowed them time to commune with Abraham and Moses. John writes in a particular style that is also evident in his letters and in Revelations. Earlier, John had written that Jesus was the Word made flesh. That flesh was sacrificed by God, as a gift to those whom God loved, so that God could abide them Because eternal life is close proximity to God. And to perish is to be utterly riven from God.

Pastoral care is a strong part of any community. Clearly this Christian community had issues and cliques had formed. So John needed to remind them of what love meant.

This part of the epistle of John from Ephesus is on fellowship with Him and one another. Sin is rejection of God, and only by embracing God will, according to theology, one find eternal life. And by embracing God, one is purified.

Bible Quote Mar 25th Romans 6:23

“For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.” - Romans 6:23
===
Paul's epistle to Romans is his longest. Chapter 6 explores people being slaves to sin, or slaves to God.

Christian theology has it that God is life, and by embracing God one finds eternal life. And by rejecting God (sin) one loses their relationship with God and will not have eternal life with Him.https://rumble.com/vewamr-bible-quote-mar-25th-romans-623.html

Bible Quote Mar 24th James 1:12

“Blessed is the one who perseveres under trial because, having stood the test, that person will receive the crown of life that the Lord has promised to those who love him.” - James 1:12
===
There are question marks about the writer of this epistle. James the Just is thought to have been an older step brother of Jesus. He would lead a Christian church in Jerusalem and was thought to have been martyred in 62. This epistle was possibly written by him in 62, just prior to his death.

Had it been written by a brother of Christ, it is worth considering the motivation of the writer having openly despised Jesus before crucifixion. According to historians of the day, James was martyred defending Jesus, having been asked by Temple leaders to denounce Jesus. Some connect the death of James with the destruction of the Temple in 69, but the issue was not that clear cut. The temple was destroyed after Nero failed to properly put down a rebellion in France. Imagine James speaking to Children, and families of Jesus after the crucifixion, and then being visited on. That is key to this verse, and epistle.

Bible Quote Mar 23rd Ephesians 6:10-11

“Finally, be strong in the Lord and in his mighty power. Put on the full armor of God, so that you can take your stand against the devil’s schemes.” -Ephesians 6:10-11
===
Ephesus is the city in modern day Turkey where John is thought to have written his Gospel, and where Paul spent a few years. The inhabitants at the time were Greek ethnically. Paul does not give characteristically personal greetings in this letter, suggesting to some that he did not write this in 62 AD from Rome, but it was written in his name between 80 and 100 AD.

The first chapter has a greeting, writes of redemption in Christ and then is a prayer for spiritual wisdom. These verses are near the end of the epistle. The armour of God is not the same as one's personal struggle. One does not fight the devil, but holds to the Lord. The armour He gives is to protect us from the devil.

Follow God’s example, therefore, as dearly loved children and walk in the way of love, just as Christ loved us and gave himself up for us as a fragrant offering and sacrifice to God.
But among you there must not be even a hint of sexual immorality, or of any kind of impurity, or of greed, because these are improper for God’s holy people. Nor should there be obscenity, foolish talk or coarse joking, which are out of place, but rather thanksgiving. For of this you can be sure: No immoral, impure or greedy person—such a person is an idolater—has any inheritance in the kingdom of Christ and of God.[a] Let no one deceive you with empty words, for because of such things God’s wrath comes on those who are disobedient.Therefore do not be partners with them.
For you were once darkness, but now you are light in the Lord. Live as children of light (for the fruit of the light consists in all goodness, righteousness and truth) and find out what pleases the Lord. Have nothing to do with the fruitless deeds of darkness, but rather expose them. It is shameful even to mention what the disobedient do in secret. But everything exposed by the light becomes visible—and everything that is illuminated becomes a light.This is why it is said:
“Wake up, sleeper,
    rise from the dead,
    and Christ will shine on you.”
Be very careful, then, how you live—not as unwise but as wise, making the most of every opportunity, because the days are evil. Therefore do not be foolish, but understand what the Lord’s will is. Do not get drunk on wine, which leads to debauchery. Instead, be filled with the Spirit, speaking to one another with psalms, hymns, and songs from the Spirit. Sing and make music from your heart to the Lord, always giving thanks to God the Father for everything, in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ.

Bible Quote Mar 22nd Jeremiah 17:7-8

““But blessed is the one who trusts in the LORD, whose confidence is in him. They will be like a tree planted by the water that sends out its roots by the stream. It does not fear when heat comes; its leaves are always green. It has no worries in a year of drought and never fails to bear fruit.”” -Jeremiah 17:7-8
===
Jeremiah was the second of the latter prophets and he lived from 627 BC to 582 BC, saying little of cheer to his audience.

The background to Jeremiah is briefly described in the superscription to the book: Jeremiah began his prophetic mission in the thirteenth year of king Josiah (about 627 BC) and finished in the eleventh year of king Zedekiah (586), "when Jerusalem went into exile in the sixth month." During this period, Josiah changed the Judahite religion, Babylon destroyed Assyria, Egypt briefly imposed vassal status on Judah, Babylon defeated Egypt and made Judah a Babylonian vassal (605), Judah revolted but was subjugated again by Babylon (597), and Judah revolted once more. This revolt was the final one: Babylon destroyed Jerusalem and its Temple and exiled its king and many of the leading citizens in 586, ending Judah's existence as an independent or quasi-independent kingdom and inaugurating the Babylonian exile.

Here, we have Jeremiah writing of Judah's sin and punishment. But amidst that, we have the contrast for one who is faithful. The Lord is a river feeding our roots, even in times of poverty and despair.

Bible Quote Mar 21st 1 Peter 2:2-3

“Like newborn babies, crave pure spiritual milk, so that by it you may grow up in your salvation, now that you have tasted that the Lord is good.” - 1 Peter 2:2-3
===
Some say Peter could not have written his letter because they don’t believe in adult learning. After Peter’s education as a disciple of Jesus, Peter was privileged and had ample opportunity to learn advanced rhetoric. But the wording here is simple and pure. God is holy. God is exalted and above the sin of which people are immersed. In order to deal with sin, it is important not to deal in sin, but to look for God. The simplicity of the words is what informs those who claim Peter could not have written it.

Peter loved Jesus, but he denied him when he was asked about it on the morning of Jesus’ crucifixion. Three times. Peter revered Jesus, and Jesus loved Peter, but Peter did not have an answer. Maybe, had Peter answered, he would have been killed. But everyone will endure mortal death until God decides they won’t. Even John, who had felt for a time he would not.

The correct answer if you know the Lord and love Him is you know the Lord and love Him. And there may be dire consequences. But mostly, there won’t be. And if you speak simply and honestly, it impresses people. It suggests integrity and that is a desirable thing. Know your heart and speak your mind. And stand to be corrected when you are wrong. It is ok to disagree with others, too. But do it lovingly.

Spiritual milk is the Word, and the life of the faithful, expressed in devotion and activity. When one makes a choice, it becomes easier to choose similar options again.

Bible Quote Mar 20th Galatians 5:22-23

“But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, forbearance, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control. Against such things there is no law.” - Galatians 5:22-23
===
Excellent food from Turkey may be attributed, in part, to some Gauls from Thrace who settled there around 300 BC. Romans called that area Galatia. Paul wrote to the Galatian churches some time from the late 40's to early 60s. This verse is preceded by a warning of what being slave to pleasures of the flesh results.

Now the works of the flesh are evident: sexual immorality, impurity, sensuality, idolatry, sorcery, enmity, strife, jealousy, fits of anger, rivalries, dissensions, divisions, envy, drunkenness, orgies, and things like these. I warn you, as I warned you before, that those who do such things will not inherit the kingdom of God.

It is telling that there are no laws against the fruits of the spirit. Because we live in times where laws get passed which are not good laws. But there are laws against many pleasures of the flesh.

“May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you trust in him, so that you may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit.” - Romans 15:13
===
Paul's epistle to Romans is his longest. Chapter 15 is near the end and forms an epilogue where Paul writes of his plans to visit Rome.

The structure of chapter 15 begins with six verses on bearing the burdens of others, and then seven verses on glorifying God together. This verse is a prayer that we will hold to Him, and so experience a life rich in His presence.

Bible Quote March 18th Psalm 23:1-3

“A psalm of David. The LORD is my shepherd, I lack nothing. He makes me lie down in green pastures, he leads me beside quiet waters, he refreshes my soul. He guides me along the right paths for his name’s sake.” -Psalm 23:1-3
===
The Psalm may not have been written by David, but in tribute to David's early life as a shepherd. But David is not the shepherd of the Psalm. The shepherd is a Metaphor for the Lord. In holding to the Lord, I find the places I lay are comfortable, with plenty for my needs. The places I drink are fresh, calm and safe. I am not uneasy or morally compromised as I would be living a good life while others suffered. I do not crush the virtuous hope of others.

Bible Quote March 17th Colossians 3:12

“Therefore, as God’s chosen people, holy and dearly loved, clothe yourselves with compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness and patience.” - Colossians 3:12
===
Colossians is a letter to a small Christian community about 100 miles from Ephesus. There are questions about authorship. It reflects the epistle for Ephesians. Were it written by Paul, it was probably written in the sixth decade, when Paul was imprisoned in Rome. Chapter 3 is structured as the old self, the new self and Christian homes.

This verse is about the new self. Life's trials are not about making one hard and bitter. We are challenged, we survive and we can offer the lessons of love written in verse.

Bible Quote March 16th Acts 4:10,12

“then know this, you and all the people of Israel: It is by the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, whom you crucified but whom God raised from the dead, that this man stands before you healed. Salvation is found in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven given to mankind by which we must be saved.”” - Acts 4:10,12
===
Acts was written as an account of activity of the early Christian church as she left judaism. It finishes with Paul in Rome. Rome was to be the arbiter between Christians and Jews. Almost every address in Acts is to Jewish audiences. Here, we have the aftermath of a public healing by Simon Peter being investigated by the Sanhedrin (Jewish authority). Peter and John had been arrested, and then released. The result would be the Sanhedrin banning the name of Jesus, but being unable to enforce it.

It is addressed to Jews, whom the name "Christ of Nazareth" would have had special meaning. However, it is meant for all, it is a sometimes self serving account which accurately describes the relationship between Man and God.

Bible Quote March 15th 2 Peter 1:5-8

“For this very reason, make every effort to add to your faith goodness; and to goodness, knowledge; and to knowledge, self-control; and to self-control, perseverance; and to perseverance, godliness; and to godliness, mutual affection; and to mutual affection, love. For if you possess these qualities in increasing measure, they will keep you from being ineffective and unproductive in your knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ.” - 2 Peter 1:5-8
===

Another argument against the second epistle is that words are used, like 'Scripture' which weren't generally used until long after Peter's death. Also, Peter seems to have accurately predicted his own death.

Peter was named by Christ as the rock of the Church This letter may not have been written by him, but was written in his name, possibly any time from 60AD to 160 AD. Peter would have been dead, but still remembered in Rome where this letter probably originated. Christians were being persecuted on the pretext of amoral behaviour.

The structure of the first chapter is 'the greeting of the faithful,' 'fruitful growth in faith,' 'Peter's approaching death,' 'a trustworthy prophetic word.' The letter had been addressed to various nations in Asia Minor. This particular verse is from fruitful growth in faith. By embracing Jesus, we may commune with God.

As a young Christian I was intimidated by my fear, and unproductive. I believed, but I was paralysed by fear of what I’d been like before I had believed. I worried about what others thought of me and felt incapable of presenting my thoughts to others without first understanding what others thought. But frequently they obfuscated and rarely showed they ever thought at all.

I needed to add goodness to my faith. I needed to show myself I was ready to share with others, my thoughts were legitimate. They might not be the thoughts others have, but they are worthy thoughts to share. I needed to acquire knowledge by reading the Word. I needed self control and all that Peter advises in his letter. One gets love by exercising it. One learns by walking with God. One is freed by accepting salvation.

Bible Quote March 14th Romans 8:28

“And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose.” - Romans 8:28
===
Romans is considered Paul's magnum opus, his biggest work. The reformer Martin Luther stated that this chapter is where Paul "comforts fighters" involved in an inner struggle between spirit and flesh:The Holy Spirit assures us that we are God's children no matter how furiously sin may rage within us, so long as we follow the Spirit and struggle against sin in order to kill it.

The persecution facing Christians in Rome at Paul’s time was strong. Much like that faced by Christians persecuted by Daesh death cult. It is said Nero used Christians as human torches to light his gardens. Paul faced that persecution, and died. But before he died, he provided this powerful testimony. There is no promise of lust or money, no threat of pain or destruction, no loss, which will prevent God from holding us as we call and serve Him.

On his Journey to Rome, Paul was stoned, probably to death. But Paul persevered.

We are challenged by Demons. But it is not our job to fight those demons. We should resist them. If we fight demons, we end up dancing to the tune they play. But God will fight them and win. It has been written in Revelations that He will throw them into a black pit. All you need do, is hold onto God.

Here, we are presently suffering for future glory.

Bible Quote Mar 12th Deuteronomy 7:9

“Know therefore that the LORD your God is God; he is the faithful God, keeping his covenant of love to a thousand generations of those who love him and keep his commandments.” - Deuteronomy 7:9

=== Deuteronomy is one of the Moses written books. This particular reference is from when events at Mt Horeb are recalled and Moses has been given the ten commandments. Moses exhorts his people to remember God, urging obedience.

We fall short of the commands God has given us. But in holding onto Him, he holds onto us. He is faithful. And able. He gives life and hope. He provides a way when none can be seen.

God has authority. The world may work as it will, but God can change it. You can pray to God and He will answer through the Holy Spirit. Some say He does not answer prayer, but that blind luck sometimes does. How faithful are those that worship luck? Yet I tell you that if you pray, God will answer your prayer. Try it and see. And note, talk to God in your prayers. He is the good father. Not to be trifled with with lustful thoughts of the heart. He does not give you what you want. “But in your hearts revere Christ as Lord. Always be prepared to give an answer to everyone who asks you to give the reason for the hope that you have. But do this with gentleness and respect,” - 1 Peter 3:15

Bible Quote Mar 10th 2 Timothy 1:9

“He has saved us and called us to a holy life—not because of anything we have done but because of his own purpose and grace. This grace was given us in Christ Jesus before the beginning of time,” - 2 Timothy 1:9

There is dispute of authorship of this letter. It is probably from Paul in 65 AD, before he is executed. The tone of the letter to Timothy is different from the first letter.

We did not ask for God to sacrifice Jesus. But he did. It is grace that He did. Everyone who was not at the top is now equal with those who are. God is part of our lives, when we let Him. He isn’t here to give you season baseball tickets or extra points in home games, He is here to give you eternal life and numerous blessings.

Turn aside from self serving behaviour. Serve God, and He will bless you. If you build God’s house, He will build yours. Don’t waste time trying to do everything yourself. There is no joy in doing things your way, so as to show you are better than those doing it their way. Such pettiness is hurtful. Do things because God wants you to. Show praise because God has blessed you. Love one another, because God loves you.

Bible Quote Mar 9th 2 Corinthians 1:3-4

“Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of compassion and the God of all comfort, who comforts us in all our troubles, so that we can comfort those in any trouble with the comfort we ourselves receive from God.” - 2 Corinthians 1:3-4
===
A problem with academia is the promise of the sure result, is not matched with the truth, that every result must be continuously defended. And ancient Greece was the home of academia. Paul went to Corinth and shared his life as a Christian. And Paul returned. Frustrated. Hurt. Explaining again and again what he had meant as Corinthians split hairs.

But the result is a pure distillation of Paul’s message. We may know that God is love. Here we are told explicitly how it is practiced. Love does not waste time on evil, but bolsters and protects, hopes and perseveres. A young lover looks for their loved one to commit. There will be hard times, and there will be easy times. It is the choices we make in the hard times which define us. Some in hard times, choose to fight the devil. Don't concern yourself with that. Protect. Hope. Trust. And, persevere.

And here we see how God loves. God has found your measure. God is worthy. And in service to God, we become worthy.

If you love someone, you become more beautiful.

Everyone needs comfort. And God gives it freely. When the one we love rejects us, we need comfort. When our work is not good enough, we need comfort. When we lose our treasures, we need comfort. Everyone has times in their life when comfort is needed. And, maybe the need was a personal fault or failing. Comfort is needed.

And God gives comfort. He gives it to the homeless, to widows without family, to the poor and destitute. God also gives comfort to the rich and wealthy, should they choose to accept it.

Children know when they miss out on something they want. Their father gives as he should to let them grow. God is the perfect Father. God denies nothing that his children need. Sometimes a person dies young and tragically. Let Him comfort you.
